The Real McKenzies is a North American Celtic punk band founded in 1992 and based in Vancouver, British Columbia. In addition to writing and performing original music, Real McKenzies perform traditional Scottish songs, giving them a new punk-influenced sound. They have shared stages with many other bands including Rancid, DragStrip Riot, NOFX, Flogging Molly, Xcrosscheckx, the The Misfits, Metallica, The Rookers, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Shane MacGowan.[citation needed] They were contracted by InBev to promote the Kokanee beer brand in a 1990s television marketing campaign. Their music was recently used in the 2008 British-Canadian film Stone of Destiny.
